my turn..

as my cute husband said below.. yes we just celebrated our one year anniversary! crazy right. Of course, I could spend all day talking about how much I love him, and how great he is (because he REAALLY is the best).. but I'll spare you. Instead i just want to share pictures of what we did. oh, it was lovely.

Mathis planned the whole day of things he knew were my favorites..
1st: we went to sonic to get a diet dr. pepper. duh.
2nd: okay this might sound weird, and so not romantic, but we went to kennecott copper mine. YES! I have been talking about going here for years. Throw me in any type of museum and I'm haaappy.

and lastly.. we went and saw a movie i've secretly been dying to see. He really took one for the team on this one..:)) haha poor guy.

ONE YEAR- Best I've Ever Had

This is Mathis and yes we have really been struggling with the blog lately but there was a milestone that took place in our lives this last weekend and it was awesome. We made it through that one year mark and we are still together!!! HA-HA... Everyone tells you, that first year is really ruff isn't it? Well all i have to say to them is the last year has been the best year of my life and if this is the hardest year of my marriage I am in for one smooth ride. I owe it all to my sweet heart she is the best wife anyone could ever want and I don't know how i got her but I cant wait to spend eternity with her.

live a little..

do you know what happens in less than 3 weeks? FINALS. Do you know what that means? spring/summer is just around the corner! My spring fever is starting to bubble.. its getting harder and harder to go to school, and all i can think about are our summer plans.

In three weeks we're going to live a little. In three weeks we'll sleep in, ride bikes,walk to the park, lay in the grass, and well.. do anything we please!!

I will be going on a little trip here with my mom and sissies!
In 3 weeks we're going to do things like:

mmmm dontcha LOVE hiking! i will drag that husband of mine up and down any mountain.

Ohhhh my favorite: ok, ok. it may not be on a beach.. But I'll take what i can get.


Isn't summer just the best? Days are always a little sweeter. PLUS! summers=weddings. YES!!

one day

Every once and a while don't we all say something like, "Man, i hope one day they invent that." or "Why hasn't anyone thought of that yet?" Every night I ask myself this exact question.. Why is there not a birth control pill that men can take instead of the girl?? (or do i just not know about it? ha) blaaahhh!! why do i DESPISE taking this little, pink pill so much? I don't know why it's so hard for me- the pill is seriously the size of an ant. (ok a pretty big ant, but still). It takes half a second to swallow then you're done.
        Maybe it's due to the fact that I forget mmm about everyday. Mathis is my reminder. Every night just as I'm almost asleep he kicks me out of bed and makes me take it. I know its completely ridiculous, but it's a true vendetta. All i can hope is that one day they will figure something out where the guy can take the pill. . . .

Big 21

Well after all of those nice things my wife said about me i figure it is only right that I express the 21 top things i love about her. This will be extremely easy for me because my wife is pretty much perfect. I am going to apologize this is my first time blogging on this thing. 

1) She is SO caring 

2) She has the most amazing testimony

3) She thinks im pretty cool... thats rare

4) SHES GORGEOUS

5) She isnt afraid to work which i feel is pretty rare for a girl now a days

6) She has all the attributes of a perfect mother

7) Loves everyone, sometimes it is a little much when it comes to picking bums up off the road 

8) Always thinking of the craziest ideas...making this lame guy pretty cool

9) AGIAN SHE IS GORGEOUS... cant get over it. i dont know how i got her

10) Pretty much the smartest person i know. She gets great grades without even trying

11) Has the best style I've ever seen

12) Makes me happy all the time.. which isnt always easy

13) She pushes me to be a better person

14) Loves me just the way I am..even with all my randomness

15) Loves to read and learn new things

16) Loves kids 

17) Great cook...even when she is trying something new

18) Gets along and loves my family

19) Drives the coolest Car

20) She loves the beach

Saturday was mat's birthday! He is now twentythree... yeah we're kind of young. He's 23, i'm only 20 (nearly 21 :)) ha but thats okay... just typical Utah.  . His birthday is always around thanksgiving, which is great. We had such a fun weekend with my family celebrating thanksgiving and his birthday!

Thank you kent and tami for having this kid. I love him!
a few of my favorite things about mathis:

1. Patient. He is so patient with me... i know its not always easy
2. He can make friends with anyone. Whenever we're out he seems to always know someone.
3. I always come up with outrageous ideas and he always goes along with them.
4. Whenever he gets in a wild mood, he has the funniest laugh.
5. Tells me a million times a day how much he loves me.
6. So close to his family. He talks to someone in his family everyday. He always says how grateful he is for them.
7. Mathis has such a strong testimony.
8. I love when he tells me stories of his childhood.
9. He absolutely loves my family.
10. I love that we can talk about sports.
11. He has great steeze.
12. He's good at everything he tries. (I'm not sure if i like this. . .maybe i'm just jealous)
13. Mathis teaches me something new everyday.
14. Hardest worker I know.
15. Mathis is ALWAYS in a good mood.
16. He is so caring and sincere.
17. I love that he will watch the dumbest shows with me.
18. He is going to be such a great daddy. :)
19. I love that he knows the most random facts about everything.
20. He can always make me laugh.
21. Mathis is always thinking of others. He will go out of his way to include other people.
22. He always has a surprise waiting for me when i get home.
23. I love that we're best friends.

 Mathis really is the greatest. i am soo lucky to have met and marry him. Everyday i fall more in love with him. . I never thought that was possible. happy birthday mabes :)

a little selfish...

Mat and I have been thinking about the future lately. . . aaaand i'm going to have a baby. NO JUST KIDDING! we've been talking about where we want to live after pharmacy school. . Depending on where we want to end up could determine where he applies for school. We wouldn't go to pharmacy school in Utah, but of course living here is on our list. I have lived here most my life. Living somewhere else would be such an adventure, but i don't know if i could ever move away from mine or his family. Growing up in utah was such a blessing. When i was in sixth grade we moved to phoenix. What a different world. At that point I decided I wanted to raise my kids in Utah. . But when you grow up and get married... you never know!


Mathis grew up in Rupert, Idaho. It's a super small town. His dad farmed, and working on the farm was just life. His parents sold the farm and moved to St. George about 2-3 years ago. Most of his family still lives up there, so we've visited a few times. Every time we go back, and drive out to their old farm, i can't help but wish that i would have known what that lifestyle was like. I can't help wishing that i would have met mat just one year earlier, so i could experience the farm too. When mat and his sisters tell me all their stories of growing up... riding motorcycles, building jumps, hoeing beets, shooting fireworks at people (that one was just mathis :))  yada yada... not only do i wish i could have some of those experiences, I wish my children could too.      i know,  i'm selfish.
Mathis is such a hard worker, and i know that is because of his parents, and the way he was raised. One thing i want for my children is to have his amazing work ethic. I know you don't have to live on a farm to acheive that... but it sure helps!

Growing up in alpine was so great, and I wouldn't trade it. But in a couple years we'll start thinking about where we want to live and start a family. Its impossible to think of moving away from our families, and even though i hate to admit it... UTAH. Its freezing in the winter, especially since we dont have heat.. but i love it. Who knows where we'll end up. . We still have a little while before we even apply to pharmacy school. And for that 4 year adventure... i'm crossing my fingers for tennessee.. or anywhere warm :)

breathe in..

isn't fall such a great time of year? it's sooo beautiful, and there is so much to do. . A few weekends ago we went up to midway and stayed in a cabin with my family. We took a drive through park city.. the leaves were INCREDIBLE! It was such a fun weekend with the family!

Our niece, gwen, and nephew ry were at the cabin too.. they are little comedians. They are so obsessed with mat. its so fun to have them back from oklahoma!

 

... last weekend for fall break we went down to st. george to hang out with the harman's. We love going down there! Our weekend consisted of 1. hiking Zion's 2. Kent's crazy adventures 3. halloween cookies 4. shopping  and 5... getting colds :(  

we are so blessed to have family surrounding us. They are the most amazing people.. such great examples, and so true! We are so lucky!

..to my little brother christian! 

So last week Chrisitan was in a competition at school, Sir Knight.  It's basically like Miss Utah for high school boys. The teachers choose the boys, and the whole school votes on who they want in the competition. Well, of course Christian was chosen.. he is the most talented kid i know. For his talent he danced with one of his friends. (Mat and i were so surprised.. we didn't know he could dance like that ha) He looked like he was on step up or something..  At the end of show he came out looking like this...

the most swollen thing i've ever seen!! What a trooper.. finishing with an ankle like that. Well, Christian won the Mr. Congeniality prize. He did such a good job!! Christian really is one of the most amazing people i know. He is ALWAYS so busy with school, AP classes, president of the drama council, play practices, yada yada. When I lived at home I don't think I ever saw him. I was pretty much the exact opposite in high school. I just played all day with my friends, and never went to school.. haha
